It's that Thyme!

This week I am working with Thyme! James, my love, really enjoys roast from the slow cooker so I'm doing this as a little pre-wedding anniversary surprise! (Our 6th anniversary is this Saturday!) I've done beef and pork both many times in many different ways but tonight is the first time I'm using a recipe. There was a sale on Rump Roast at Buy Low this week, so that's what's cooking tonight! I put it in the slow cooker with the following ingredients:
1 can vegetable broth (I added this to the recipe to make sure that there was enough liquid. Hope it works w/these flavors! I didn't have any beef broth on hand or I would have used that.)
1 tsp Thyme
1 1/2 tsp Ginger
2 T sugar
1/2 c Soy Sauce
2 c water
1 tsp minced garlic
The recipe said to cut the meat in several places so the flavors could be better absorbed. It wasn't too tough to do since the meat is frozen. Made for nice uniform cuts. I hope it still absorbs....
I have set it for low and can hardly wait to come upstairs in the morning. Imagine waking up to such a lovely aroma! I hope James enjoys it as he gets ready for work! :)
Be patient. This somewhat yucky looking business will be lovely in about 8 hours! I plan to serve it with Old Bay Steak Fries, Beef Gravy, and a green salad. If I find some extra time, I will make rolls as well.
Stay tuned!
